Experience Matters
-
Twenty years of service means I've seen the town grow, faced challenges and understand the history behind decisions.
-
I know the people, neighbourhoods, businesses, and what makes Stony Plain thrive.
- Navigated budgets, bylaws, infrastructure projects, and community programs successfully.
- Built relationships with fellow councillors, municipal staff, and regional and provincial partners that help move projects forward faster.
-
I advocate for beautiful, healthy green spaces that support wellness, play, and connection within the community.
-
I am a proponent of business expansion, job creation, and increased access to local resources and services.
-
I support the growth of local industry to help balance the tax burden between residents and businesses.
-
I champion health and wellness for all, from accessible spaces like the outdoor green gym to supporting the recreational centre in The Brickyard community—and further, through my ongoing support in the initiative to expand the local hospital to provide greater care for Stony Plain and the surrounding areas.
-
I am a strong supporter of cultural spaces that feature local, national, and international artists—places that bring people together, foster connection, and nurture gratitude for the town we call home.
-
I advocate for family-focused features like the splash park, which provide fun, connection, and relief during the summer months. These spaces are essential for families of all income levels and are well used by programs and groups throughout the community.
-
My experience is valuable. I understand what it takes to move a project by engaging the community and advocating for cooperation with regional partners and other organizations to bring these projects to life. I carry first-hand knowledge of what’s been explored, what works, and where potential still lives. I am dedicated, reliable, and a persistent force for progress: a key to making things possible for Stony Plain.
-
I have been a long-time pinnacle advocate for our youth — recognizing early on that when we invest in young people, we invest in the future of Stony Plain. 🌿
Years ago, I put forward the motion that led to the creation of the Stony Plain Youth Centre, a place that has since become a cornerstone of growth, connection, and empowerment for ages 13–19. Since opening in 2011, the Youth Centre has provided life skills, entrepreneurial training, meal preparation programs, and opportunities for youth to engage in their community while building healthy relationships.
As Stony Plain continues to grow, so does my vision — to expand this incredible facility and ensure it continues to meet the needs of our youth and families for years to come. Because when we give young people a space to thrive, we build a stronger, more connected community for everyone.
- I am deeply committed to supporting our seniors—those who have helped build this community—and ensuring they can live with dignity, comfort, and connection. I worked on the Meridian Housing Foundation board for nine years (including five years as Chair) and helped bring to life projects like Forest Ridge Place, a senior independent-lodge facility offering studio and one-bedroom suites, supportive services, and community amenities.
My vision goes further: affordable senior housing isn’t just about creating a home for one generation—it’s about keeping families together, supporting multiple generations, and nurturing a community where grandparents, parents, and children can grow, connect, and thrive side by side.
As Stony Plain grows and more multi-generational families call this town home, I know it’s essential that seniors have access to affordable housing within the same community as their younger loved ones. When seniors are nearby, families can support each other, connect more often, and build stronger bonds.
My ongoing advocacy is to expand affordable senior housing options in Stony Plain so our seniors, families, and future generations all benefit. Because caring for our seniors is caring for our community’s heart—and doing so strengthens us all. 💚
